In the fall of 1992 the P.N.Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian
Academy of Sciences (Russia) and the Nordic Institute for Theoretical
Physics - NORDITA (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden)
established the International Center for Fundamental Physics in Moscow
as a non-profit international organization. In November 1993 the Inaugural
Symposium of the Center was held in Moscow. The creation of the Center was
approved by a Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of July 4, 1994.
The office of the Center is located at the Lebedev Physical Institute in Moscow.

The legislation body of the Center is the Governing Board
consisting of leading scientists both from Russia and abroad.
A Scientific Council, which also consists of leading
scientists from Russia and abroad, implements the decisions of the Governing Board.
The Council takes responsibility for the selection of scientific projects to be
funded, organization of conferences, symposia and workshops.
The permanent staff of the Center consists of an Executive Director, a Secretary and
an Accountant. The expenses of running the office do not exceed five percent of the
total amount of the budget. The Governing Board and the Scientific Council of the Center
perform their functions on voluntary unpaid basis.
